Wonder-Bang is Back!

I'm so happy to hear this! (Wonder-Shinki wouldn't be so bad too... =D) We'll be seeing our favorite girl group with our favorite boy group in one stage again. Cool!

Finally! Big Bang and WonderGirls will have their joint stage after 1 year.

They will be performing for a joint stage on 31st December for MBC ‘Gayo Grand Festival’.

They last had their joint stage on KBS 2T Music Bank in October 2007 performing the songs ‘Lies’ and ‘Tell Me’.

Yet another joint stage between Big Bang and other great singers to look forward to. Big Bang previously had a joint stage with Lee Hyori for MKMF Awards ceremony. To add to that, Big Bang will be having a joint stage ‘Star Wars’ with group Dong Bang Shin Ki on 29th December on SBS ‘Gayo DaeJeon’.

YG Entertainment fills us in with more information for the joint stage, “This is not just a joint stage. Big Bang is now preparing for their special stage. This will be a joint stage presenting a different feeling.”

[Variety] 1N2D - Kim Jong Min's Farewell Episode

This is Kim Jong Min's last episode before enlisting for military. He will be relieved from duty next year. I sure hope that his wish will come true that 1 Night 2 Days will still be strong when he comes back. He also wishes to come back to the show... (i guess most of the old members wishes the same thing... Ji Sang Ryul admitted it himself in their fishing trip episode)

It's also Kang Ho Dong's wedding anniversary, it's sweet to hear him talk to his wife on the phone. I hope I can see how Kim C is with his wife too. He had a very romantic love story, something like "you and me against the world".^^

It's sad to see Jong Min go... I hope he's healthy and doing well in the camp. May his wish of having the show last a long long time for him to come back again and share more laughs to the viewers come true.

Lee Da Hae Leaves "East of Eden"

I'm really not sure how to take this news. I like Lee Da Hae a lot, she's sweet and seem friendly and nice. But quitting in the middle of a currently airing drama will sure to have it's negative effects even if she has valid reasons. It makes me sad to know that netizens are now divided, some see her as unprofessional and some just felt compassion for her. Whatever her reasons are, be it health or because of the not-so-good development of her character, I hope she thought about it well and understands effects on her career. Too bad, I'm looking forward to a Song Seung Hun - Lee Da Hae pair up in the end of the drama. =(

Lee Da Hae has left a message on the official “East of Eden” website yesterday night (22nd), expressing her wish to quit “East of Eden”. Although there were also rumours previously about her wanting to leave the drama citing health problems, they were essentially just rumours. But this time round, she was the one who made the announcement herself and this move has caused an uproar and much speculations among fans and viewers alike.

Lee Da Hae wrote on the website: “Due to stress, I often felt the tiredness and was unable to carry on with the filming. Although I have taken some injections and medicines, but they only helped to reduce the tiredness in my body. My mental stress is still there.”

“I don’t know when did this started, but after filming every scene, I would start to reproach myself for not being able to play my role well. Even me myself can’t understand the character that I’m playing, let alone the viewers. Hence, I have decided that it is better for me to leave the drama. Although I have went through alot eversince I started filming this drama, at the same time I have also learnt many things. More importantly, I have met a lot of friends through the drama and I wish to remain in contact with them after my departure,” Lee Da Hae continued.

At the moment, the production team has not released any official statement in response to her leaving but viewers are already expecting a huge impact to the plot development. As the original plot is for Lee Da Hae and Song Seung Hun to be in love at some point, her leaving will mean that there will be drastic changes to how the story develops. This may prove to be a headache as the original writer has also quit the drama citing health reasons and the new writer may have a hard time trying to piece everything again.

[Drama] Strongest Chil Woo

Eric Mun - as Choi Chil Woo, the guard in the palace who plays it low, sucking up to the higher up to earn him some money. His biological father got killed trying to change the world for the better. This made him believe that no one can ever do anything to change the current situation, not until his sister got killed too. This time, he formed himself a team to help those who are in need.

Surprisingly, Eric cried a lot in this series. I don't see him as a crying guy, but he did! I'm not saying he looked good at it (I wouldn't recommend him to cry that much in his next project) but at least he was able to perform and I love him all the same. =P I'd say Eric got away with the role with his natural charms. You just can't help but fall for his macho charisma on screen. While I'm watching, I'm reminded that I wouldn't be able to see him on TV for 2 years (because of military service) and my heart aches. I miss him already...

Goo Hye Soon - as Yoon So Yoon, the girl who saved the King's grandson from death. She is also the love interest of Chil Woo, the girl Chil Woo promised to protect no matter what.

I'm not a big fan of her acting, it's a little bland. But I think it's not all her fault, the role itself it not as meaty as it should have been. I'm looking forward to Korean Hana Yori Dango to see if she will do better.

Yoo Ah - as Heuk San, the adopted son of Prime Minister Kim. He was used by his foster father to carry out his evil plans. But his good heart still rules when it comes to his decision making. He spared So Yoon and the King's grand son from death.

This is the first time I watched a drama Yoo Ah's in. And I must say, he's good. The role fits him well, it brought out hard emotions of anger and sadness in him. He looks tall in this series though, unlike in "Antique" where he's kinda short compared to his co-actors. Looking forward to more works from him.

Summary:

Chil Woo is an ordinary palace guard by day, but a notorious assassin who helps the needy at night. He works together with two other friends, Min Seung Kook (the palace historian) and Jaja (old friend of So Yoon). The team eventually increased in numbers with the help of Chil Woo's foster dad, Yeon Doo and the King's grand son.

The story of their heroism continues until they get entwined with the hidden reason of the death of the King's son. As they dig deeper, they get into more trouble with the authorities. With each has their own reason for carrying out being assassins, they go on until they find out the truth of the burried secret.

I actually enjoyed watching this drama at the start, but eventually lost interest half way through. I expected it to be another fusion sageuk as good as "Hong Gil Dong", but it's far from it. Good thing they made the last few episodes good that I didn't feel I wasted my time watching the drama till the end. I love the epilogue. =)

I would suggest people to watch it with pure entertainment at heart. Don't expect too much and just enjoy what you see. It's not a serious drama that has good story lines, but instead, I'd call it a drama for enjoyment. You'll laugh, you'll cry (while laughing? XD), and you'll eventually know that sometimes, it's not so bad to watch this kind of drama for pleasure's sake. ^^

Big Bang and DBSK's Joint Stage

It's happening!!! Something that I've always wished for after Dong Bang Shin Ki had their comeback in Korea. A joint stage of two of the most popular idol groups in Korea, Big Bang and Dong Bang Shin Ki! And it's happening on SBS Gayo Festival on December 29th. Mark your calendars fangirls, this kind of joint stage doesn't happen often. ^^

One of the staff for the concert announced on 24th December, “The 2 groups are preparing for a performance called ‘Star Wars’.”

It is also confirmed that Big Bang TaeYang and Dong Bang Shin Ki Xiah JunSu will also be having a showdown of musical composition.

“After the piano performance session, they will also have a song battle. Xiah JunSu is scheduled to perform first, followed by TaeYang.”

[Drama] Powerful Opponents

Chae Rim - as Cha Young Jin, the strong willed woman who wanted to succeed in a man's world. Surrounded by disappointing men in his life, she put herself to the hardest test to come out standing tall. A grand father, father and brother to take care of, and another strong willed partner Yoo Gwang Pil and the man that they're protecting, Kang Soo Ho, the president's son.

I love Chae Rim! She's always adorable, even though she do look cuter in her older dramas, but still, I love her all the same. ^^ It's nice to see her in a strong woman role, because I think she looks too sweet that I wouldn't have thought she would do well, but she did. She may not be the best actress out there but just seeing her smile makes my day brighter already. (sorry I'm so biased, lol! XD)

Lee Jin Wook - as Kim Soo Ho, the Korean President's son. The black sheep of the first family, who went through a heavy broken heart that made him live in his own world. Being called a president's son put so much burden on him that he became rebellious. He doesn't want to live under the scrutiny of people's eyes that is always criticized. Meeting Cha Young Jin made him feel appreciated, which gave him a second chance in life.

Lee Jin Wook is one good looking man. I love his smile, it's teasing and cute at the same time. ^^ Though I personally like clean cut men, but I think he looks so much better in the drama when he's rugged and unruly. As for his acting, it's not exceptional but still worthy to be watched. Pretty good if I may say so.

Lee Jong Hyuk - as Yoo Gwang Pil, the best from the new group of bodyguard trainees. He used to be the best friend of Kim Soo Ho, more like an older brother and a son to the president. But because of some unexpected bad events, he was forced to go away and stay away from Soo Ho.

I've always looked at him as a bad guy. He fits them and he's a really good actor to be able to play those roles so well. But here, he's not a bad guy at all and I liked him! It's not always that I feel sorry for the other guy (though he's not really the other guy here, but I just though Chae Rim would look better with the president's son, lol!). Anyways, he played his role with passion and compassion that you can almost feel what he's feeling. Very good indeed.

Summary:

Cha Young Jin grew up disappointed with the men in her life. Her grand father, father and younger brother often gets in trouble and needs her to get them out of it. She trained hard to be a successful bodyguard for the president. Something that usually only men get to do. Her partner, Gwang Pil seems cold and guarding the president's son. Soo Ho didn't make her life any easier.

Kang Soo Ho is determined to get his bodyguards fired before the end of the month. He did everything to made their life harder. With all the mishaps, he eventually grew to like them. With the conflicts in his life with Gwang Pil and the unfolding to the past and the future, they continued to be rivals in love.

I thought this drama would be more interesting. But there are saving moments that made you want to continue watching. And my like for Chae Rim also helps in making me enjoy the drama more. All in all, it's not a drama that you would want to watch again, but still worthy to be watched at least once. =)

A new female announcer and she's single! I really hope Jaedong will find a girlfriend already. It had been a very long joke on him already, well who knows... he might surprise us one day with a wedding announcement! ^^

This is an episode that we can't miss! Wonder Girls, SS501 and Eun Choding in one show! Love them!!! But sadly, everyone looked so tired. Ji Won even sounded sick. Hope everyone is healthy. Fighting!

I like the detective segment more than the new game they're playing. It's more fun and entertaining. Hope they do better for the next episode.

Jang Nara For Charity

Another favorite artist of mine from way back. And it's nice to know that they don't just have nice images on screen but they do have good hearts in real life too. Jang Nara donated her endorsements income to different charities. It's really Christmas, a season for giving.^^

Jang Nara is turning a few paydays into charity opportunities, sending a total of 200 million’s worth ($156,000) of items to help the needy.

Recently, Jang signed a contract to promote a children’s/junior’s clothing brand, Our Q, which is a deal worth about 100 million won. Instead of cash payment, however, her fee is being delivered as 100 million won’s worth of clothing, which will be split between two charities. That means 50 million won’s worth will go to clothe underprivileged Korean children via the Korea Food for the Hungry International, while another 50 million in clothes will be sent to a Chinese charity to help earthquake victims in Sichuan.

Furthermore, she’s also entered into a contract with a Chinese cosmetics line worth 100 million won; again, her payment will be converted into that much worth of toothpaste, hand cream, and other items to be sent to North Korea. It’s a creative way to negotiate her contracts, that’s for sure (and I’m sure the companies prefer sending their own merchandise as payment rather than cold, hard cash anyway). Wins all around.

Invincible Lee Hyori

It's really great to know that Lee Hyori had a very successful concert in spite of news that she was hospitalized just two days before the concert night. She performed her trademark songs plus some cover songs. All these together with multiple costume changes including really sexy ones surely got all the fans excited.


One of the highlights of the concert is seeing the popular girl group of the 90's Fin.K.L. together again on stage! 2008 could have been the group's 10th year anniversary if they didn't disband in 2005. This is a memorable stage for the group members and the fans who followed them through the years. Each member is very successful in their own solo careers today, Lee Hyori became the sexy diva of the Kpop world, Sung Yuri and Lee Jin is now in dramas, while Ok Joo Hyun in musicals.

Hyori's friends also gave her some words of encouragement. Sung Yuri and Ok Joo Hyun concerned about Hyori's health and Lee Jin reminding everyone of their 10 year friendship.

Other guest artists who are also long time friends of Hyori came out to support her like Wheesung, SG Wannabe, Rain, Big Bang, etc.

[Variety] FO - 10th Outing

After his release from military camp, our "One Man", Kim Jong Kook is back to spread his variety show antics. He was one of the most sought after artist on variety shows before he enlist for military service. And now coming back, different variety shows are all lining up to invite him in their shows.

He sure didn't lose his charms. Still very entertaining and I'm happy to see that he really is a nice guy. He loves to show support to new artists. Love it when he hugged Daesung in a music show when Big Bang won the #1 spot against him.

It's not often that I find this show funny, I usually watch it because of the guests rather than it's entertainment value. But this episode gave me moments of laughter which I thought is great!

It's just sad that Chae Young and Professor Jun is leaving the show. Same with Yoon Soo Young.

Like I said above, it's over... the Lettuce Couple is out of the show and I'm feeling so sad to see them part. I think if Hyun Joong is in a stage in his life now that he's ready to get married already, he wouldn't think twice to marry Hwang Bo. And same with Hwang Bo, I don't think she would mind the age gap at all. They match each other so well. They bring out the best of each other. We see how they opened up to each other as the show progresses. I so understand why Hwang Bo broke down when Hyun Joong is talking. He opened up to her, something that he doesn't normally do. I love how Hyun Joong seem to mature in this short period of time. And the sincerity in him is clearly seen in each word he utter. I'll miss them so much... I can only hope the best for them both!

To the lovely muish, my heartfelt thanks to all your hard work. Thanks so much for giving us joy each week through the subs you do. I don't think I would have continued watching this show without your subs. I would have missed the fun of watching our favorite Lettuce couple. All the best to you, and again, thank you very much! ^_^

Unless I get to find english subbed videos of this show again, I won't be posting links to We Got Married again. Just like in real life, we have something that we hope to hold on to forever but things change, and we have to move on eventually. I'll miss this show, it's one of the shows I enjoyed posting weekly, sharing my thoughts and all... this post is too melodramatic! =S biane~

[Variety] Infinity Challenge in the Philippines

Infinity Challenge used to be the highest rating variety show in Korea. Big celebrities were known to watch this show. Hosted by Yoo Jae Suk with members like Haha, Park Myung Soo, Jung Hyung Don, Jung Jun Ha and Noh Hung Chol (he left 1N2D for this show). That was before Haha left for military service and before 1N2D and Family Outing became so popular. But I still think this show is watch worthy, definitely one of the best variety shows produced in Korea. It's just that not many fans sub this show which made it not so popular with overseas viewers.

The episode I found to be subbed was more than a year old already. It was aired around June 2007, but I thought of sharing it since it was filmed in my mother country, the Philippines! ^^ They filmed in Palawan, a beautiful island in western Visayas. They left the members in one of the small islands in Palawan and made it seem deserted (the bigger part of Palawan is actually full of high end resorts where celebrities usually stay because of it's privacy).

Getting Hyped Over Korea's F4

Kangin and Lee Yoon Ji in We Got Married

I'm still sad about the departure of "Lettuce Couple" in We Got Married. But with the decreasing rating of the show, the PD's pick another idol in the hope of reviving the show. Kangin will be part of the new couple together with Lee Yoon Ji. Since muish will not be subbing the show anymore, I'm one of the those hoping Super Junior fans will take over the subbing.^^

Thought it would be great to keep this a mystery until this Sunday. Guess MBC couldn’t take the heat with the numerous rumors that had been spreading around about the identity of the new couple. Super Junior member, Kangin and actress Lee Yoon Ji will be the replacement couple for the outgoing Hwang Bo and Kim Hyun Joong on MBC star wedding variety We Got Married.

Kangin has been gaining prominence recently with his movie acting role in Pure Manhwa while Lee Yoon Ji has been well-known and loved for her ditzy role in Pure 19 drama and her numerous daughter-in-law tv commerials.

Their first recording took place yesterday where they went shopping for a wedding trousseau. They will have a pretend wedding ceremony in public, held somewhere in Seoul on the 17th. The We Got Married production team hopes that the new couple of Kangin and Lee Yoon Ji will receive lots of attention and love from viewers. They will make their official tv debut on 21st December.

The departure of an idol Kim Hyun Joong sees another replacement with Kangin coming in. Wonder how Lee Yoon Ji would fare on variety. I will certainly be looking forward to their debut this Sunday and give them a chance.

Se7en in Seattle

Another Kpop artist that sets foot on American music scene is Se7en. He had been gone from Korea for a long time preparing for his American debut. It's nice to hear that he's finally making sounds and we get to know what's happening to him now. He will be performing at the Fremont Studios on December 13th and will have autograph signing at Verizon Wireless in Federal Way on the 14th. Wish you all the best Se7en!

Fans swarmed the Korean pop star's show in California. And now, Choi Dong Wook, known as Se7en, will take on Washington.

"Nobody hates the number 7," Se7en said about his favorite number. "I want to be everyone's luck. I want to give them luck from my music."

The 25-year-old has won nine Korean Music Awards (equivalent to Grammys), as well as Most Popular Korean Singer (MTV Asia Awards). In addition, he's sold out shows in both South Korea and Japan, in arenas that sit 20,000. And after four albums in South Korea and two albums in Japan, he's ready for the states.

"My music is pop and R&B, so the music that I love is born here, in America," said Se7en, who has been singing since age 5. "In Asia, every singer, their best dream is America."

Se7en is coming to Washington for the first time this week, performing in Seattle at Fremont Studios Saturday and signing autographs in Federal Way on Sunday. After more than 3,000 people showed up for his Highlands Night Club concert last May in Hollywood, who knows how many Seattle-area fans will turn out? More than 1,000 queued up for San Francisco and Orange County signings, arriving as early as 7 a.m. for autograph sessions that started at 2 in the afternoon.

"It's really like, so special, that I'm here in America, not Asia, but still people know me and people are supporting me," said Se7en. "That kind of thing is really like an honor, and I'm so thankful about that."

With hip-hop-flavored dancing skills, an R&B taste and Michael Jackson-inspired clothes, Se7en is like a pop-ier Justin Timberlake. Over the past year and a half, Se7en has settled in Los Angeles, working on a self-produced American debut album all in English, set for release in February.

"It was pretty hard. I'm still working on my English," said Se7en, who describes himself as a hardworking, happy person.

The singer has a hit-making team that includes Grammy Award-winning producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins (who has worked with pop stars like Beyoncé, Ludacris and Michael Jackson) and Noize Trip (who produced Fergie and Pink). They created a hip-hop-funk-R&B album, with Se7en collaborating with such rappers as Fabolous and Three 6 Mafia. And Se7en's first single, set for release next month, is with Lil' Kim.

"I want to show them something from Asian culture, something fresh, something new," said Se7en. "Me and Lil' Kim come together — isn't it kind of fresh?"

He is looking for an American major label to work with, and if successful, he could be the first Korean artist of his caliber to break into this market.

"Music is just music — music is universal," said Se7en. "I don't think it matters where I'm from. It doesn't matter my face color. ... I want to show them just my music, then my singing, my dancing, my performing — that's the point."

Update #11

Christmas is coming! Here in the Philippines we have what we call "Simbang Gabi", it's a nine day novena mass from Dec. 16-24 and that will start tomorrow at 4am in the morning. Well, it doesn't have anything to do with my updates, lol! XD I just thought of it since we can really feel the Christmas air even in a tropical country like ours.

TVXQ's Big Screen Debut

TVXQ / Dong Bang Shin Ki / DBSK / Tohoshinki or whatever you call these five talented boys will be making their big screen debut in a joint Korea, Japan and Hong Kong production. Well, they'll be appearing in a cameo role but fans are still excited to see their idol in the big screen. ^^

TVXQ is making a surprise cameo appearance in the joint venture Asia film, “Subaru.”

Japanese Nikkan Sports said on December 12, “TVXQ will make their debut screen on ‘Subaru.’ It will be in movie theaters for the first time.”

“Subaru” is the same one as the popular ballet comic book and is an Asian joint venture between South Korea’s SM Entertainment, Japan’s Avex Trax and Warner Entertainment, and Hong Kong’s Edkopil (sp?). Famous actress Kuroki Meisa together with Ara have been cast. It will first be released to Asia in Japan on March 20.

TVXQ’s surprise appearance on “Subaru” is expected to please the audience watching the film.

In addition, it was announced that TVXQ’s single song “Bolero” in January was named as the theme song for “Subaru.”

A “Subaru” representative said, “‘Subaru’ as a joint film venture is aimed at the whole of Asia, so we requested the special role of popular TVXQ to participate.”

I know I'd be sad with the farewell of Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo but I didn't expect to actually shed a tear over them, but I did! It's really sad to see them go their separate ways... I think because I see them to be the couple that evolved the most. They were practically strangers at the start with no words to say to each other, but they ended up close enough to joke and play around each other. They never had any dull moment when they're together. ~

Minwoo and Son Dambi Special Stage

The Shinhwa members seems to be coming out a lot lately making full use of their time before they finally leave for military service.

Son Dam Bi and Lee Min Woo’s “Bad Boy” fantastic performance has become a hot topic.

On December 10’s broadcasting of SBS “Kim Jung Eun’s Chocolate,” sexy female singer Son Dam Bi’s chair dance became a sofa dance to “Are You Crazy” remix version as a brilliant opening performance. To further upgrade Son Dam Bi’s sexy dance, she also did “Bad Boy” from her last album.

At the end of the “Bad Boy” performance, surprise guest singer Lee Min Woo appeared holding a rose, and Son Dam Bi’s song responded to his own 4th album title song, “Don’t Trust Men.” A story was portrayed onstage.

Afterward, MC Kim Jung Eun said to Lee Min Woo, “I’m curious that on Chocolate, Shinhwa members had performances with beautiful women (Kim Dong Wan and Younha, Shin Hye Sung and TaeYeon).” Lee Min Woo said, “That’s right. All the members are like that,” which drew big laughs from the audience.

MBC's Every1 Idol Show second season was hosted by FT Island (first season was hosted by Super Junior). And this episode's guests are 2PM! With Hwang Bo and Park Boram. It's a feast of young blood for these two noonas!^^

The 2PM boys are really good dancers and our FT Island boys are so dorky, lol! XD You can see that Hongki is very comfortable now in variety shows. He's not afraid to make fun of himself anymore. So cute! ^^

First time for me to see all the member so 2PM in one variety show. Though I have to admit, I still don't know all of them, but I do get to remember a few through this show. They do have some cuteys in the group, of course Nichkhun will be on top of that list! =P I just found out that Chansung is the maknae, he reminds me of Eric (Shinhwa). Taecyeon the tallest and street fighter character look alike. XD And Junho, who I first saw in Star Golden Bell with Wonder Girls, is the Rain look alike.

But what made me really enjoy this episode is that you can clearly see that the boys themselves are enjoying. They're playing around like kids, laughing and having fun!^_^

It's a surprise for me to see Hyesung in this show. Of all the Shinhwa members, I know that it's Junjin who do really well in variety shows. Andy became a hit when he joined WGM. Minwo got himself a date after guesting in Kko Kko Tour. Dongwan and Eric are serving the army. So I guess, Hyesung considering all that made the decision to try out variety too. And being good friends with Hyori probably is another factor. He knows he can assimilate well with friends nearby. ^^

Lee Hyori's First Solo Concert

10 years after debut, Kpop's sexy diva Lee Hyori will be holding her very first solo concert on December 19th at Seoul Jamsil Stadium. And as the concert is coming near, news about the preparations just made the fans more excited. With the big budget and surprise guest artists, this concert seems really promising!

Big Bang was first announced to perform in the concert. But it's not just some performance but a special stage together with Lee Hyori. Will there be a second part to the controversial MKMF special stage?

And just recently, another surprise for Fin.K.L. fans because Hyori just revealed that her co-members in the ever popular group will be in her concert. Ock Ju Hyun, Lee Jin and Sung Yuri will be preparing a reunion performance for the fans that missed them for so long.

Chae Rim Becomes A Mom?

I think it's really nice of Chae Rim to do this. To go to China to help out even for just a little time. It would be nice if she can continue going there to visit the boy in the future.

Actress Chae Rim becomes the mum of a 6-year-old orphan in China.

In a special program by ETN, Chae Rim adopts this child who has lost both his parents and also his grandparents. Recently, she made her way to China to visit this child, bringing him warmth and also necessities required to endure the cold winter.

To fulfill her responsibility as a mother, Chae Rim swept the floor, washed the clothes and even prepared traditional Korean food for him within the limited time that she had. Although their time together was short, she gave the child the motherly love that he had been missing for a longtime. During their departure, many onlookers even dropped their tears as they were touched by the scene.

This special program will be shown tomorrow night (8th) at 6pm through ETN cultural channel.

I'm currently watching "Rivals" and good thing I love Chae Rim. It made my watching more enjoyable that it probably is. Anyways, I'll be posting a review once I finished the drama.^^
